Patan

Patan officially Lalitpur, is one of the major cities of Nepal. It is one of the sub-metropolitan cities of Nepal located in the south-western part of Kathmandu valley. It is best known for its rich cultural heritage, particularly its tradition of arts and crafts. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 115865 in 20630 individual households.

The ancient city of Patan, lying 5km southeast of Kathmandu, is known as Lalitpur. In other words we can say it is the city of fine arts. The city is full of Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments. The diversity of medieval culture that allowed both Hinduism and Buddhism to flourish has left a rich legacy of impressive sightseeing in the city.
